Overview

On October 15th, virus database VDB6.12 was released. This release was signed with SHA384. The Sophos Home client for macOS does not support this signing, method and  was failing to update to new virus databases or perform new installations.

Systems were protected with the latest definitions up until October 15th. 

Impact

Issue fixed - No action required.

• Sophos Home for macOS systems were failing to update to new virus definitions released AFTER October 15th 2024.
• New installations of Sophos Home on macOS would fail (due to corrupted components), or not progress at all (nothing would happen when trying to install).
