What is Happening
When trying to clear Cookies after a scan, You receive a notification that Cookies have been unable to be cleaned. This is due to background processes for the browser running in the background during the scan.
What to do
Option 1 - Manually remove the cookies > Manually deleting cookies on web browsers
Option 2- Re-run the scan after closing your browsers, keeping them closed until the scan is completed
*If running Edge, Chrome or any other Chromium based browser, ensure the processes are also terminated:
- Click on Start > Type Task Manager
- If applicable, click More Details (this shows all processes instead of the fewer details view)
- Search for processes with your browser's name > right click on the top most one > End task
Repeat these steps until there are no more processes for your browser listed in Task Manager
Example with Microsoft Edge browser:
- Close Task Manager and the Sophos scan results
- Start a new Scan
- Do not open the browser again until the scan has completed, and the cookies are removed
