Updating to this version ensures your device uses the new certificates and stays fully supported.
What do I need to do?
The update is applied automatically to healthy installation of Sophos Home.
To check your Sophos Home version:
- Open Sophos Home by clicking
- Sophos Home Shield > … > About
- Confirm you see 10.11.5
If you're on 10.11.4 or below, click Update and allow it complete.
If you encounter problems applying the update
1. Make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements
- Sophos Home requires a supported operating system and hardware.
You can confirm this here: Minimum System requirements
Note: If your computer or operating system is outdated, the update will not apply.
You must update your macOS version first.
2. If your computer meets the requirements but the version still won’t update
- Reinstall Sophos Home using the latest installer: How to re-install Sophos Home
Reinstalling ensures the newest version (10.11.5) is applied along with the updated certificate.
How do I know if the certificate update was applied?
You won’t see a separate message about certificates, being on version 10.11.5 or later means your device is fully updated. That’s all you need to confirm.
What happens if the certificate expires and I don’t update?
If your device does not update before the old certificate expires, you may see:
- The Sophos Home app showing as not connected to your account
(Shield > … > profile icon shows no connection) - Difficulty accessing or managing your account
- The antivirus showing an older version like 10.11.4
- In some cases, features may not sync correctly
Fix:
Update to version 10.11.5 and everything should reconnect and function normally.
