What is happening?
Full System scans will complete too fast when older Time Machine setups are enabled on a volume that is also used to store other files. (i.e configurations of Time Machine migrated from previous systems).
What devices are impacted by this?
macOS devices that set up Time Machine prior to the macOS changes listed above, AND/OR macOS devices that have migrated their Time Machine settings from older systems.

What to do
Option 1: Right-click Scan the macOS hard drive instead of using the UI.

Option 2- Disable Time Machine to perform a Scan
Disable the old Time Machine volume to run a scan via the UI
Note: these steps will disable your current Time Machine setup - Be sure to backup your data appropriately!
You can re-enable Time Machine afterward, but it is recommended to set up a new volume for . The steps for this can be found in the following article from Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201250
- Click the Apple logo at the top right of the screen > System settings > General > Time Machine.
- Click the current Time Machine volume and then the remove button.
- Click "Forget Destination"
- Run the scan via the Sophos Home Shield>...>Scan
- Re-enable Time Machine as required.
